Our
Goals
CAN's
primary goals relate to four main topics: leadership development;
education; resource networking; and assessment.
Leadership
Development CAN's goal is to foster leadership among people in local communities
and community systems (e.g., schools, government, agencies,
faith groups, etc.) who want to develop the social, physical,
civic, vocational and cultural competencies of people in the
community, in a way that promotes connection, caring and commitment.
Education Through conferences and shared learning experiences, CAN aims
to help educate Connecticut communities and their residents
on ways to integrate asset-based strategies for creating and
sustaining healthier communities.
Resource Networking CAN's goal is to help neighborhoods, schools and communities
discover, develop and use the gifts, talents and capacities
of individuals, associations and institutions for mutually
beneficial problem solving and community building, to produce
local networks of resources and capacity inventories which
will lead to mutually beneficial problem solving.
Assessment In each of its community asset development projects, CAN will
use personal stories of individuals involved as one of the
tools for assessing the outcomes of the project. These assessments
highlight the contributions of community partners and provide
useful information for enhancing citizen engagement in future
projects.
Our Objectives
CAN's objectives are to:
1.
Collaborate
with network community-based groups that have programs and
